My favorite daughter!

My sweet princess has turned 12! On June 26th Averee entered the world of a young woman.
It took me a while to convince Ave to get her 12 year old pictures taken and it finally happened last week!
She is loving being 12 and totally feeling like a big girl being a part of the young women's group in our ward. We have such a great group of young women and leaders. They have really made Averee feel welcome. I don't think I've ever seen her so happy.
This morning I took her to the church to go on her first ever girls camp to Pine Top. She was up a lot of the night not feeling well and I think it was due to nerves.
I just can't believe that all of my kids are now in YM/YW! It's so fun to shew them out the door on Wednesday nights, together!
Happy 12th Ave!

I love my kids...

Some days I'm not too sure why I chose to be a mom. Why didn't anyone warn me about the headaches, the worries and everything else that comes along with motherhood?
Well, I'm glad they didn't! I have been blessed with 3 great kids. Zach, Averee & Landry entertain me each day, keep me on my toes and prove to me why families are important.
Although I haven't seen much of them this summer, I still love them and miss them while they're gone.
This picture was taken a few weeks ago before church only because I thought they all looked so nice.
They are growing up so fast. All 3 are now in mutual! Can I possibly be that old?
Thanks Zach, Ave & Land for letting me be your mom! I love you!

Seattle Trip May 2009

Seattle was BEAUTIFUL!!! I want to live there when I grow up! This was my first trip there and I loved it! Not one drop of rain!
We went for a baseball tournament but left a few days early and stayed an extra few days. We had a fabulous time!

Our family on the warf.

We stayed at a great hotel, Residence Inn, and the kids and adults enjoyed the outdoor sport court. Many games of HORSE were played by all! Some of the families stayed at Brooke's parents house on the lake. Their place was beautiful!

Me and Ave

Zach on the pier with Safeco & Invesco fields in the background.

Land on the pier.

The wind enjoyed making my hair look like a boufandou!

The boys in my life!

Ave with Ichiro at Safeco field!

Our entire team and parents were able to see the Mariners beat the Giants.

Ave & Zach waiting for the game to begin.

Our coaches: Corey Carman, Roland Ochoa, Shawn & Kevin Skinner.

Some of our group.

Keith & Bev Johnson (Jack's grandparents (team member)) know the peeps at Safeco and got our team on the big jumbo tron! Quite a neat moment for all of us!

We enjoyed Ivar's.

My kids get real tired of getting their pics taken. I guess its their age!

Me & my love!

A big thanks to Eastside Harley Davidson for donating this beautiful banner for our team!
Our trip was awesome and the weather was great. We had so much fun hanging out with our baseball family. Someday it will all be over and we will miss it, I'm sure!

Fun with mom in St. George!

St. George was absolutely beautiful! My mom and I went on Thursday the 14th of May through Tuesday May 19th.

I have to say that I probably have one of the most talented moms in the universe. NOTHING scares her! She's not afraid to try anything!

She loves making aprons and totes and so she decided to do the What Women Want Expo in ST. George.

Look at how darling and how talented she is!

She made nearly 40 aprons!

And about 15 totes!

Some day I hope to be 1/2 as talented as she is! She did great at the expo!

While at the expo she got suckered in to a mud facial mask. Back at her place in St. George we tried it out on her! Gotta love the picture!

I made her put her cute hat on that she bought!

She was so kind and took me to the Kolob mountains on our way home. It was so so beautiful! Just like her!

It only took about 30 minutes to drive off the freeway to see. So glad I did!

I love taking pictures of flowers! Bless my moms heart, she drove me around and let me take pictures! She's the best!
These are just a few unedited shots.

If u can come and want a free pass in, call me @ 2082833184. I can try 2 accommodate u!

I'm looking forward 2 some great nature photo ops too!

Mother's Day 2009

This had to have been one of the best Mother's Days in quite some time. It was eventful, fun, exciting and more.
Here's a breakdown of the weekend:

Landry's team, Treasure Valley Baseball Academy, played in a tournament in Pocatello with 22 teams. Our team won all 4 games and allowed only 4 runs! Amazing!
This put us into the championship game agains one of our rivals, the Utah Bandits. They beat us once before and we were ready for revenge! We had the opportunity to play on a huge, beautiful field that wasn't a school or park field. I'm not sure, but it hosts some team in between high school and pro.
We were instantly behind in the 1st inning at 4-0. Our team fought hard against this great team and brought the score to 8-4.
Here we are in the last inning, 2 outs, loaded bases and guess who's up? Landry!! OMG!!! He really only had 2 good hits all day and was kind of struggling and all I could think was, you've got to be kidding????? My nerves were shot! I just kept thinking, please just walk him because the next hitter had been hitting really good.
Well, with 2 strikes and 2 balls, Landry took a pitch and cranked that ball, back, back, back, looking like it was going to be over the outfielders head when BAM! That stinkin fielder caught the ball with the tip of his mitt and the game was over.
So sad! It was the best hit of the game, but the fielders were playing so far back on a 400 yard field that Landry was robbed. I have to say that I was so proud of him for pulling it together and getting a hit like that under tremendous pressure. We were all dying with the "what ifs"!!
We ended up 2nd place which we were proud of. We were champs last year at the tournament and were really hoping for that again but unfortunately we couldn't pull it off!
To make a long story short, Veronica from my blogging world got ahold of me and we realized what a small, small world it is. We actually just played against her boys team a few months ago in St. George and didn't even realize it. We also ended up at the same hotel in Pocatello! Her and her darling family came to watch the championship game and it was so fun to meet her! I only wish we lived closer!!

On Sunday we had a fabulous Mother's Day luncheon at my Aunt Darlene's. It was the first in many, many years that ALL of my moms sisters and brother and their families got together. We had about 60 people there! How fun it was to visit with aunts, uncles and long lost cousins!
Above is a picture of my 96 year old grandma who started this all. My mom and dad and my little brother and his family are there with us. We really missed my older brother and my little sister and her family.

Above is Averee, me, my mom, my sis-in-law Jenn and my grandma Lucy!
Did I mention I have THE best mom and grams in the world????
Later on Sunday we had the awesome pleasure of spending time with Shawn's side of the family! He truly has the best bros & sis ever!! They are all beautiful, sweet, kind and loving. I love them so much!
Above is a picture of our family and Shawn's parents. I think I have the best in-laws any daughter-in-law could ask for! I love them!

Landry, Averee, John, Helen & Zach.

My kids have a great relationship with their grandparents and I am so glad for that!

Shawn spoiled me with a new point & shoot camera for my trip to Europe and a beautiful, rockin new "Betsy Johnson" watch!

Its going to be hard to top this one!

Spring Break 2009!

We had a wonderful spring break this year! We were gone a total of 10 days and I tried to document as much as possible for our family journal.

These photos aren't going to be in any particular order because it takes too long.

Our whole family took off Wednesday March 18th for St. George Utah. We had ballgames, family, friends and fun awaiting us.

If you have never stopped by Cove Fort near Fillmore, Utah then you have really missed out! The kids and I made a last minute decision to stop on our way home. Boy were we glad we did! President Hinkley's grandfather was in charge of Cove Fort and it was so interesting to see it and learn about it. If you haven't been since 1994 then you MUST go because they have refurbished it and made it true to form!

It's a small world! The Sister missionary that led us around Cove Fort is actually from my home town and her son is just a few years older than me and Shawn. Sister Miller was a pleasure!

The kids enjoyed looking out the holes that were made for guns!

Averee was intrigued!

I'm sure this place in spring and summer is amazing! It was beautiful on this day even though there were a few snow flurry's and the trees were not in bloom!

I took the kids to Mesquite one day. (Shawn had to fly home early) While I enjoyed a few games of Bingo, which is my all time fave, the kids enjoyed many games of bowling! Thank heavens for the worker who liked them and gave them great deals! We also had our favorite "slots of ham" which was awesome!

We had planned to go to Vegas after Mesquite, but the kids wanted to go back to St. George to play hand and foot with Grandma & Grampa Batis. The picture above is with them. They had a fun night and it gave me time to visit TaiPan and some other places.

We had a terrific weekend of baseball. The boys won their 1st four games which put them in the semi-finals but they lost their first game which put them out. They were down 5-2 but rallied back and ended up tied. They went onto extra inning and they lost by 2. Darnit! It was sure a great game though! I love how Land is centered in the fence!

Some of the boys watching a little competition! Landry is #4.

During warm-ups I caught this photo of Landry in the hitting net!

Shawn anticipating the first game of the tournament.

Landry getting a little "black eye" from Coach Cory.

I didn't realize when I snapped this shot that the steeple was in the back. I love it!

This turned out to be one of my favs also because it catches Land & Shawn together.

Love this action shot of Land warming up. Great ballerina move!

Shawn had flown back home and the kids and I stayed for some fun. I convinced them to let me take them to a part of the Grand Canyon. First words "how long will it take"? We were told to take a dirt road by Pipe Springs that will get us to a section in only 65 miles! Upon further investigation, we decided to travel about an hour further on paved roads to the North Rim. So we were off! After about 40 miles we came to this....

Yes, you read it right! CLOSED FOR THE WINTER!!! You are kidding right? I was frantically trying to find anyone that could confirm this sign and that I did. Doesn't open until May 15!!! Who closes the Grand Canyon for winter? Why had no one told me? One option was to stay on the same road we were on and drive another 4 hours to the "South" Rim, another option was to head back the 40 miles to the dirt road and the last option (kids favorite) was to simply drive 2 hours back to St. George. The option I chose was...

The 65 mile dirt road to Tuweep!!! Kids happy? Not really! By now its 2pm on Monday. Snow storms were all around us. Do I dare take 3 kids with no hubby this late in the day? Yes I did! Even though some of the residents told me I needed a big strong car (check), spare tires (check but only 1) and 3 hours on the dirt road (check, it won't take ME that long!) "Those rocks are like knives out there! They'll split thru your tire like a hot knife in butter" said a couple of older men in Fredonia!

Ahhhh, I can do it!!

140 minutes later (you figure it out!) we were looking down 1500 feet to the Colorado River! No railings, no form of protection.

It was beautiful!! Where else could I have got these beautiful pictures?

The kids had a great time even after all that!! Because it was getting late we weren't able to spend all but 45 minutes there, but check these pics out!

Back to the dirt road! Only this time we took a left at the Y that leds us down a much better road and brought us out to Colorado Springs. Poligamy city!! Hildale and Colorado Springs. Weird! My only regret was that I didn't drive down the streets of Colorado Springs. Next time!

We had a few friendly cows along the way.

Another small trip we took was up Snow Canyon to the Mountain Meadow Massacre Monument. That's a mouth full! I don't know much about this but plan to read my new book I just bought at Costco to learn more about it.

I admit this was bit boring because I didn't know the history, but I will learn soon!

To top off a great spring break, we stopped in Tremonton for a few days and then headed back to Idaho. One of my very best friends, Judy, was blessed with having her greatest husband baptized a member of the church!! Bob and Judy are on the right side and they are beaming!! The other man in the picture gave Bob a Book of Mormom 42 years ago while in the military. Between that BofM, a girl Bob coached that had something tell her that Bob needs to be baptized and a home teacher that didn't pass on the opportunity to take the discussions, brought us to this wonderful day!

Life is too short not to do the things we want and enjoy what God has given us!

17 years ago and a LOT of pushing...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL 1ST BORN!
ZACH TURNS 17 TODAY! OMG!

Photos by me, myself and I

It's hard to even explain the love and respect I have for this young man. He is the kindest, most respectful, cutest, well-behaved son anyone could ask for.
Zach has been an absolute pleasure to raise. As a teenager in these days, I am so proud of the decisions and choices that Zach has made. He is so talented at everything he does and has a heart of gold.
I LOVE YOU MY SON!

A Shoe Saga...

About 5 years ago I bought these black plastic shoes from Payless. I rarely ever buy shoes for myself from Payless, but my cute friend Tonia (from over-the-tipsy-top) wore some, that were similar, with her "uniforms" (jogging suits). She always cracked me up because she would call them her "tennis shoes". I used to tell her they were NOT tennis shoes.
Anyhow, I bought me some and they became my absolute favorites with "uniforms" as well as jeans! Ask my family and friends, I think they got sick of seeing them. For 12.99 I got a whole lot of use out of them!
This past winter I kept wishing I had a newer, nicer pair that was similar to my Payless lovelies but have not seen any.......until............this past weekend!
Ave and I were at the mall and I came across these little beauties! No, they are not exact replicas or even very close for that matter, but they were comfortable, had a heel (a must), wouldn't show a sock, so I splurged!!!
May I introduce you to my new......Dansko's?

I LOVE THEM!!! Yes, they cost a pretty penny, but they are wonderfully comfortable, cute with uniforms or jeans, especially skinny jeans and take me back to my "clog" days! Spikey heels would be the way to go for me most of the time, but sometimes comfortability has to outway fashion, right? Right? Ugh!

I am looking forward to buying some of their sandalls for my BIG trip in June! I'll have to start a piggy bank!
To see all the fun styles and colors, head on over to http://www.dansko.com/!

An Ahhhh Haaaa Moment...

Photograph courtesy of Angie taken in Hawaii 2007

An ahh haaa moment I must document!

Just 2 days ago I told Shawn that my entire life and personality changed when I decided I had done enough service.

Why keep doing it? Rarely do I NEED service and rarely does anyone serve me.

I've had it! I'm tired!

Those were my thoughts in my mind about 5 or 6 years ago. And may I say that life has been pretty miserable without it!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm getting back to my "old ways"!

I'm going to work on letting it all go and try to be of more service again.

Yesterday in sacrament the entire meeting was on service, it was wonderful!

Then today listening to my awesome XM radio and the Oprah soul series, the guy on the show said something that hit me like a brick. Let me share it!

"The sun never tells the earth, "you owe me""!

Think about all the sun does for the earth without asking for anything in return!

I love it!

I have to admit...

I've lost a bit of blogging interest!!

Now, don't go getting all upset thinking I've lost interest in my blogging buddies because I haven't!! I still check out blogs and leave an occasional comment.

Hopefully someday soon I will return with a vengence!

Keep up the good work and know I'm still checkin you out!

Many have asked what's happening with my blog so I'll give you a little idea of what I've been up to since my last post.

* Real Estate - This is keeping me nice and busy right now! (Did I mention I love my job?)

* Photography - Love, love my new hobby and job! Have you seen my other blog?

* Photoshop - Learning lots each day!

* Primary - Keeping up with my calling as 2nd counselor in the primary!

* Basketball - Landry is on the A team for SMS and sometimes has 3 games a week!

* Reading - Trying to fit time in to read since I have about 25 new books to read! Currently reading Barak Obama's Dreams of my Father.

* Cooking and Cleaning - Ok, not so much cleaning (I have 3 great kids that help with that!) but cooking, I'm trying to cook more at home to save the $$$!

Life is good! Have a super day!

Holy Cow, I'm Back!

Hi friends & family!!!

It's been a long time!

Thank you so much for all the many emails, calls, comments and concerns from people wondering if I've dropped off the face of the earth.

Let's just say that I've been wrapped up in other addictions for a while and busy to boot!

This is going to be my catch-up blog since Dec. 8th.

Here we go.....

1. I turned 40!!! 40!! On Dec. 17th history was made in my life. I reached what I consider a big milestone. I welcome my 40's with open arms. It was a day to celebrate and celebrate I did.

2. On Dec. 18th I left Idaho for Utah with family in tow. We headed to Tremonton with parties galore. Unfortunately the parties were snowed out from Bear Lake, but we still had a fab time in Tremonton. We celebrated with family and friends and couldn't have asked for more fun.

Here are a few pictures:

Peg (mom) made darling aprons for nearly everyone!

My kids with their grandparents.

Our family with my sweet 96 year old grams!

I love this woman with ALL my heart!! Grama Lucy!

Sam & Scott (my brother) were able to join us this year. What a treat!

Aren't gramas the best?

Now for the friends party. Wow!! Will we ever change?

Me, Teresa, Heidi, Rachell & Teri. We have been friends for 35 years!!! We truly appreciate our friendships!

Let's just say someone let a tooter! I won't say who, but yes, it happened at snapshot time!

It doesn't take much to get us all in tears!

Trying to compose ourselves for the picture.

Heidi's husband couldn't make it, but we've never let that stop us from a good party!

Casey & Teri

Teresa & Kip

Rachell & Joe

We also had a wonderful time at our nepews wedding in Logan. Our cutest Brenten married a Veibel girl and it was so fun to see all of the Christensen family and the entire Batis family.

On Sunday we loaded back up and left Utah for California. We enjoyed 7 days in San Diego and Anaheim.

My little brother and his cute family flew and met us there for a few days.

We stayed on the beach in San Diego. We had a great motel and a great time at the beach.

This is Averee & Jenn (sister in law)

Troy walked the kids down the beach and they love finding treasures from the ocean.

The 2 stud muffins (Zach & Land) decide to join us.

We found it extremely amuzing that there was seaweed long enough to jump rope.

A super-sweet pic of Hunter and Troy walking along the beach!

My little Riv acting like an angel.

Cute Hunts who forgot to come his hair!

Handsome Taytay!

Have I not warned you in other posts that my family must have a fascination with bums!

At THE GAME. We had the time of our lives, but unfortunately BSU lost by 1 point. bummer!

Our entire crew all decked out!

Shawn & I finally caved and got all the kids cell phones and texting for Christmas. We are on TMobile and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how I can control EVERYTHING from my computer!

We had a few rainy days, but that didn't stop Troy from showing the fashion!!

The kids were in 7th heaven riding the Atlantis ride a million times.

They didn't think they would get so wet!

A cheesy pic from San Diego

Christmas day we traveled to Anaheim. We checked into our hotel and headed to Disneyland.

We enjoyed 2 days at Disneyland. (That's all I could handle)

We also enjoyed a day at the Wild Animal Kingdom and our final day was spent at Universal Studios! Whew!! That was alot of fun!

Our trip was fantastic and we made memories that will last a lifetime! It will be a long, long, long time though before we head back to Disneyland. We've been there about 3 times in 5 or 6 years.

Since the trip I have:

a. sold a home

b. listed a home

c. have been taking professional photography and photoshop classes

d. had the pleasure of taking many, many photos

e. got a new cell phone, the G1, I love it

f. Have my first laptop (love)

And so on.........

Well, my brain is fried and my fingers have rigamortis so I'll have to call it quits for one day. I may have to add things to my blogging vacation if I've missed some, which I know I have.

Thanks again for keeping in touch and I'll be getting caught up with you all soon!

Love ya!!

Easy...Simple...and DELISH!

How about a tasty treat?
This is so simple and so absolutely delish! I just love it!
CARMEL CORN PUFFS
1 lrg bag of corn puffs (I love these white cheddar from Costco!) or 2 smaller bags
2 sticks of butter
2 C. brown sugar
1/2 c. Karo light
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Boil for 5 minutes: butter, brown sugar and Karo. Stir in vanilla and bakings soda. (This will bubble up.) Pour over corn puffs and stir until well coated. Add nuts if you wish. (no thanks) Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour if you want it crunchy, but I ONLY bake it for about 8 - 10 minutes because I like it more like carmel corn!
Enjoy!
The white cheddar gives it such a great flavor! You must try it!

Stir and boil!

I mix mine in 2 bowls so its easier to coat!

This is a shot after the baking soda is added! Be careful!

Coat it really good!

Baking in the oven for a short time kind of melts it into the corn puffs!! MMMnnnnn Good!

No Calories! haha

We Survived!!

We survived our FIRST EVER Thanksgiving dinner at home all by our very lonesomes!
Yes, the ENTIRE dinner was prepared by yours truly and I must say I completely enjoyed the preparations and the partaking!!
It turned out delish! A little salty on the gravy, but delish! (in fact, I did hear it be referred to as a "salt lick")
Averee was absolutely taken by the turkey. She even named him Gregory. She loved him!
I grabbed a few photos of our day!

My FIRST EVER pumpkin pie! Homemade! Not Sam's or Costco! Homemade! It was divine!

My Eyes Were Open!

I had a pretty cool experience yesterday and I'm going to try to share it in short form so I don't bore you to death.

Shawn and I have been doing a LOT of "cleaning out" and "organizing". We have taken hundreds of items to the D.I. in the last few weeks.

In the past I've tried to sell my stuff in yard sales or on my new found love, Craigslist. But because we have had so much "crap" we've just decided to donate ALL of it! It kind of tears at my heart strings knowing I can make a buck or 5 bucks on something, but instead I'm just going to GIVE it away.

Those days are OVER!!! To the D.I. it goes! Once in a while I will have something worth a lot of money that I will sell of Craigslist, but the majority is going to the D.I..

Don't get me wrong, we've donated tons to the D.I. in the past, especially the left over items after yards sales, but no more.

Yesterday I took another big car load to our local D.I.. I ran into the store afterwards to see if I could find an old stool for my photography sessions.

I have to say that it put a smile on my kisser. After seeing a darling little girl proudly holding a Strawberry Shortcake bedspread and a little boy with a football, it truly revealed to me the importance of donating our stuff we don't need anymore to these charities.

Those who can't afford to buy things brand new are so thrilled when they get it for $1 at the D.I.! Sometimes even that $1 is a stretch. Keep in mind our economy and how many people have lost their jobs.

What a great feeling it is to know that I will make someones day by donating my unused or outdated items. It was fun to see some of my stuff on the shelves with small price tags just waiting to be bought!

Remember, by donating our items, it also gives MANY people a job that might not otherwise have one.

Friends, today I'm going to encourage you to declutter your homes and donate it!

You just might make someones Christmas EXTRA SPECIAL!!

P.S. It was fun walking around seeing what stuff was there. Books galore! Lots of brand new ones and old classics alike! I also found an entire spool of silver ribbon from Costco! You know how I LLLLOVVVEE ribbon!

Mustering Up The Excitement...

I'm so excited that Thanksgiving is only 1 week from today!!!
To muster up ALL of that EXTRA excitement, I thought I would share a few Thanksgiving Funnies with you!
I hope you get a good laugh like I did!

Ready for this one?

Next...Not for the faint of heart!!

Sorry, I had to share them! Lighten up, they're just jokes!

Happy Week Before Turkey Day!!
